The 2021 vintage of Seriously Old Dirt is a polished, Cabernet Sauvignon-led red blend that captures the essence of Vilafonté’s ancient soils. Vibrant aromas of ripe strawberry, black raspberry, mulberry, and fresh plum unfold in the glass, layered with subtle hints of shaved nutmeg and dried sage. Silky on entry, the palate expands with a luxuriously smooth texture, lifted by fresh acidity and supported by soft, integrated tannins. Medium-bodied, expressive, and cellar-worthy, yet crafted for immediate enjoyment.
The 2021 vintage was shaped by a cool, late spring and a mild, steady ripening season—ideal for slow, even fruit development. With vibrant acidity and bold tannin structure, the grapes were hand-harvested at peak flavor. After fermentation, the blend—88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 2% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc—was matured for 18 months in French oak. The result is a wine of deep color, layered complexity, and graceful balance that speaks of its exceptional vintage.
