Description

Holden Manz Reserve Chenin Blanc 2022 is a fuller-styled Western Cape Chenin Blanc that brings ripeness, floral lift, and steady freshness into balance. This is not a lean, sharp expression of the variety. Instead, it shows Chenin’s broader, more textured side while still keeping enough acidity to stay focused. For drinkers who enjoy white wines with both weight and energy, it lands in a very appealing place.

The wine shows a golden yellow hue and opens with aromas of kumquat, honeysuckle, quince, and citrus blossom. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with yellow fruit at the core, joined by notes of fresh ginger and pineapple. A fine line of crisp acidity keeps the rounded texture in check, carrying the wine through a long, powerful finish. It would pair especially well with roast chicken, glazed pork, mildly spiced curries, or richer seafood dishes where its fruit and freshness can meet the food comfortably.

Already drinking well, this is a Chenin Blanc with enough presence for the table and enough brightness to keep you coming back for another glass.
Hand selected bunches from two excellent vineyards in the Simonsberg/Paarl area (80%) and from Perdeberg (20%). 100% from vies cooled to 5ºC prior to “Champagne” crush cycle. Clarified juice transferred by gravity to barrels and tanks for fermentation. Wild yeast fermentation with 28% vinified and matured for 12 months in a mix of new and second fill French oak barrels. All the wine was stirred continually on the fine lees. Bottled 21 January 2020.

Located in the top, southern-most corner of the Franschhoek Valley, in the embrace of its spectacular mountains, the 22 hectares Holden Manz Wine Estate is situated between the Franschhoek River and Stony Brook at 300 meters above sea level.

Today it is a lifestyle destination, boasting five-star guest house and spa, restaurant, picnics by the Franschhoek river, with an art collection housed in the town.

An exclusive grower of red grapes, the Estate only cultivates its top 16 hectares under vineyards, notably Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot resulting in the production of ultra-premium wines made for the discerning wine connoisseur.
