Lanzerac Mrs English Chardonnay 2025 is a single-vineyard Stellenbosch Chardonnay from Jonkershoek Valley, shaped by altitude, vine age, and a more layered, barrel-aged style. This is a fuller-bodied Chardonnay, but one that keeps its poise, balancing citrus freshness with texture and oak influence in a way that feels deliberate rather than heavy. It is a wine that speaks to careful vineyard selection and a classic cellar approach.
The nose opens with vibrant citrus aromas, while the palate brings a fuller, more textured feel, carried by freshness and a steady, graceful line through the finish. There is depth here, but also control, with the wine’s richness held in check by its acidity and structure. That makes it especially good with white meats, creamy pasta, or delicately smoked seafood, where its weight and freshness can work together naturally at the table.
Already expressive, this is a Chardonnay that offers immediate appeal but should also develop further over the next several years as the fruit and oak continue to knit together.
The fruit was sourced from a high-altitude, 29-year-old single vineyard and hand-harvested at 22.5 to 23˚ Balling. After whole-bunch pressing, the juice settled for 48 hours before fermentation in French oak barrels, with 40% new oak, 40% second-fill, and 20% third-fill. A combination of cultured and wild yeast was used to build complexity, followed by 12 months of barrel aging with weekly bâtonnage to enhance texture, richness, and overall integration.
