Description
Now entering a superb drinking window, the 2011 vintage has evolved beautifully, revealing layered aromas of blackcurrant, red berry fruit, warm spice, tobacco leaf, and graphite, alongside subtle earthy and savory nuances. The palate is refined yet powerful, with beautifully integrated tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, classically dry finish. There is both maturity and energy here - a hallmark of well-aged Stellenbosch Bordeaux-style blends.
The 2011 vintage in Stellenbosch was widely regarded as balanced and elegant, shaped by moderate conditions that produced wines with freshness, fine tannin structure, and excellent aging potential. Fifteen years on, The Jem is showing exactly why it has become one of South Africa’s benchmark collectible reds.
This wine pairs exceptionally well with beef fillet, roast lamb, venison, and richly layered dishes.
The final blend was assembled to showcase the complexity and elegance of the Helderberg terroir, with the aim of producing a wine capable of long-term aging while maintaining refinement and freshness.
