Elegant and expressive, the Vrede en Lust Casey’s Ridge Syrah 2020 is a cool-climate Syrah from Elgin that showcases refined structure and vibrant character. Red fruit aromas are layered with subtle spice, black pepper, and hints of dried herbs. Lighter in style yet full of depth, it offers silky tannins and a fresh, balanced palate. Grapes were harvested at peak ripeness and fermented in small stainless steel tanks with a mix of pump-overs and punch-downs for gentle extraction. Malolactic fermentation followed in tank, then the wine was matured in oak barrels—10–15% new, with the rest in older 3rd and 4th fill barrels. This approach preserves the Syrah’s vibrant fruit while adding subtle complexity and smooth, integrated tannins.
