Description

Rich, layered, and beautifully expressive, the Anthonij Rupert Red Blend 2017 from South Africa’s Western Cape is a masterclass in balance and complexity. Lush notes of black cherry, plum, red berries, and blueberry unfold alongside hints of spice, chocolate, and a whisper of fennel. The palate mirrors the nose with seamless depth, framed by fine tannins and well-integrated oak. Full-bodied yet elegantly structured, it finishes long with a touch of cocoa. Perfect for cellaring or enjoying now.
Hand-harvested grapes from Franschhoek and Groenekloof are carefully sorted and gravity-fed into wooden fermenters. After a cold soak, natural fermentation begins, followed by 5 days of skin maceration for depth and texture. Aged 24 months in 50% new French oak, then bottle-aged for 6 years before release, this unfiltered red blend showcases meticulous craftsmanship and the character of South Africa’s premier vineyards.

Winemaker: Dawie Botha
Anthonij Rupert Wyne was founded on the farm L’Ormarins in Franschhoek. Originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001, the farm was taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-the-art winemaking facility on the estate, and the beginnings of what was to become a sprawling enterprise with a focus on terroir specific wines.
