Description

This highly rated South African Tempranillo greets you with aromas of blackberries, violets, herbs, and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, it offers a deep and rich flavor profile, with a touch of sweetness upfront that transitions into well-structured, pleasantly grippy tannins.

The finish is dry and satisfying, balancing fruit intensity with earthy complexity. Perfect for pairing with roasted meats or rich stews, this wine delivers both power and elegance, showcasing the unique terroir of Wellington.
Their red wines are fermented in old open concrete tanks with manual punchdowns and matured in concrete eggs, French oak foudres and barrels. They work mainly with Mediterranean varietals, (old) bush vines and besides their own grapes, they also source grapes from Wellington, Swartland and Stellenbosch.

Winemaker: Neil Marais
Tempel Wines is home to high-quality, hand-crafted wines. Their philosophy is to let the grapes do the talking – they create modern wines that reflect the character and soul of the region. As 80% of their wines are made on the field, they take great care to select only the best cultivars and rootstocks given the climatological circumstances and different soils at their vineyards. They try and keep farming as natural as possible to maintain the best quality in the end products.
