The 2024 Secateurs Chenin Blanc from AA Badenhorst is a fresh, expressive Swartland white with vibrant layers of stone fruit, quince, and citrus zest. Aromas of peach, green apple, and delicate florals rise from the glass, while the palate reveals ripe pear, white peach, and a hint of lemon curd. Crisp acidity and gentle lees texture bring energy and depth, finishing with a clean mineral edge and a whisper of nuttiness. A beautifully balanced, terroir-driven wine that over-delivers in every sip.
The grapes are hand-picked with great care and chilled overnight in a cold room. The following day they are whole bunch pressed into a settling tank. This wine was left on its gross lees for 7 months before being bottled with occasional lees stirring during this time. Some of the juice is also fermented in older casks and big foudres; around 25% of the total. A small quantity is also fermented on skins and later blended into the wine.
