This Reserve Syrah reveals a bold aromatic profile, opening with notes of maraschino cherry and sun-dried peach, layered with savory black olive and a hint of pepper. Floral nuances of violet add a touch of elegance, enhancing the wine’s aromatic depth. On the palate, it’s rich and silky, showcasing a harmonious blend of fruit and spice. Vibrant minerality brings freshness to the layers of anise and clove, adding complexity and balance. The finish is long and memorable, marked by lingering spice and a refined texture that highlights the cool-climate character of Walker Bay.
This vintage is crafted from 100% Syrah, hand-harvested and partially fermented using whole bunches. It undergoes 18 months of maturation in 25% new French oak barrels, contributing to its refined structure and depth. The wine reflects the terroir of decomposed Bokkeveld shale on clay-loam soils at an elevation of 280 meters.

Winemaker: Jean-Claude Martin
When in 2002 Jean-Claude (JC) and Carolyn Martin took up the challenge of establishing a winery in a remote corner of the Walker Bay Wine Region, they did so with the courage of their conviction.
The 40 hectares of undulating land on the lofty Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge had never been planted to vines before, but recognizing the vast potential, they set out with tenacity and determination to transform it into a model wine farm.
No easy feat, but then the Swiss-born JC and South African-born Carolyn (née Finlayson) both come from wine pioneering stock spanning at least three generations and two continents!
