Ruby red in color with aromas of red berries and plums, and a hint of raw cocoa from the French oak. Medium-bodied palate with juicy tannins, classic Merlot red berry fruits, and a harmoniously quaffable finish. Will age well for 3- 5 years.
The grapes were harvested at 23,8 degrees balling, destalked and gently crushed into stainless steel tanks. The long ripening of this cool vintage allowed phenolic ripeness at a lower sugar level. Pump-overs were done up to three times a day.
After fermentation, the wine was racked into barrels for malolactic fermentation and matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 15% was new oak. A second portion of the wine was hand-sorted, fermented in an open top wooden vat and then basket pressed. This handcrafted portion of Merlot adds depth and complexity to the final blend.
