A classic South African Cabernet Sauvignon with an elegant minerality and typical varietal characteristics such as berry and plum flavors and hints of cloves, mint and cigar box. Well-considered barrel maturation and firm but accessible tannins ensure a full-bodied wine with a rich consistency and lingering finish.
Grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness, destemmed, and then fermented in stainless steel tanks with pump-overs twice a day. After 3 weeks, it was pressed and put into barrels. The wine was matured for 16 months in 300-litre French oak barrels - 33% new French oak. After this, the Cabernet Sauvignon batches were cut and filtered. The wine was bottled in January 2024.

Environmental management is a high priority at La Motte and is factored into the long-term strategy as well as daily running of the estate. Examples of environmental care include the protection of precious natural flora known as ‘fynbos’ on the adjoining Wemmershoek mountains and adherence to biologic principles in the production of grapes, flowers and ethereal oils. La Motte was one of the first wine estates to be awarded the coveted ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certification.
