Opulent and powerfully aromatic on the nose, displaying a subtle array of dried stone fruit notes, exotic sweet oak spice, a hint of lemon zest, and earthy mineral depth. The texture on the palate is rich yet incredibly elegant, with luxurious density and extraordinary concentration, balanced by just enough acidity. The wine reveals a tight, chalky structure and beautifully integrated oak, with dried peach and persimmon leading the way, accented by notes of almond and a twist of Naartjie citrus peel. It has immense, lingering persistence on the palate, with a finish that lasts forever.
Winter started later and was warmer than usual, but rainfall was good throughout the season. Above-average temperatures in July caused uneven bud break and smaller berries on certain cultivars. Temperature fluctuations in September and October led to uneven bunches; however, weather conditions improved in November. A warmer February resulted in earlier harvesting of some cultivars. Rain and cool conditions in March slowed the ripening of red wine varietals, leading to a later harvest at relatively lower sugar levels.
