What may seem like the unsung hero in many a Bordeaux Blanc, Semillon has the strength of character to shimmer in the shadows, merely offering support to a blend, or to reign supreme in solitude. Whilst most suited to its home ground in Southwestern France, Semillon has emerged ever popular in the new world. In the early 19th century this “green grape” was widely planted in South Africa.
