La Motte Chardonnay 2024 from Franschhoek is a polished and expressive South African white wine with freshness, fruit purity, and elegant texture. Pale green-straw in color, it opens with inviting aromas of lemon and nectarine, while subtle hints of cashew nut and lees add depth and complexity as a gentle sign of wood maturation.
The palate is juicy and refined, offering a medium- to full-bodied mouthfeel with vibrant citrus and ripe peach flavors at its core. Bright acidity lifts the richer elements beautifully, creating a wine that feels both generous and well balanced. With lively length and excellent freshness, La Motte Chardonnay 2024 is a refined Franschhoek Chardonnay that combines fruit, texture, and subtle oak influence in a smooth, modern style.

Initially, fermentation took place in tanks, while further fermentation and maturation took place in 300-liter barrels. Malolactic fermentation also occurred in barrels. One-third of the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks, without malolactic fermentation. Twenty percent of the French oak barrels in which the wine was matured were new. After the 12-month maturation period, all the components were blended. The wine was bottled in the La Motte cellar in June 2022.

Situated in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley in South Africa’s Cape Winelands, La Motte is home to fine wines recognized internationally for their exceptional quality. With its picturesque setting, traditional cuisine, and historic charm, La Motte is an enchanting choice for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
La Motte was acquired in 1970 by the late Dr. Anton Rupert, an internationally respected industrialist who established a global business empire and was held in high regard as a committed conservationist. Dr. Rupert and his art-devoted wife, Huberte, also played an immense role in the preservation of art. While there has been a dedication to producing top-quality wine at La Motte since its acquisition by Dr. Rupert in 1970, the estate has also shown a distinct commitment to uplifting and empowering its people.
Environmental management is a high priority at La Motte and is factored into the long-term strategy as well as the daily running of the estate. Examples of environmental care include the protection of precious natural flora known as “fynbos” on the adjoining Wemmershoek Mountains and adherence to biological principles in the production of grapes, flowers, and essential oils. La Motte was one of the first wine estates to be awarded the coveted ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certification.
