The Marianne Old Vine Pinotage 2020 is a polished and quietly powerful expression of South Africa’s signature grape, sourced from mature vineyards on the slopes of Simonsberg-Paarl. With a focus on restraint and balance, this wine highlights the more refined side of Pinotage.
The nose is lifted and elegant, offering aromas of raspberry, dark chocolate, and delicate violet, with subtle layers of spice. On the palate, the wine is structured yet composed, with integrated tannins that provide shape without heaviness. Ripe fruit is framed by gentle oak influence, creating a wine with both depth and finesse. The finish is smooth, balanced, and lingering, reflecting careful handling and thoughtful maturation.
A refined, cellar-worthy Pinotage that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, lamb, duck, and rich, savory

Following harvest, the grapes were cooled to approximately 10°C and underwent cold maceration for around 6 days in French oak fermentation tanks, enhancing color stability and aromatic depth. During fermentation, the wine remained on the skins for up to four weeks, allowing for optimal development of structure, tannin, and flavor.
The wine was then matured for 16–18 months in 225L French oak barrels, predominantly older oak, ensuring integration and balance while preserving fruit purity. This careful approach results in a wine that combines structure, spice, and elegance.
