Golden in color with a subtle green hue, this Stellenbosch Chardonnay is a masterclass in richness and elegance. Aromas of warm toasted brioche and zesty marmalade lead into a textured palate layered with lime zest, lemongrass, and delicate floral notes of honeysuckle and frangipani. Creamy vanilla and almond round out the finish, adding warmth and depth. A beautifully structured wine that delivers both power and finesse, perfect for collectors and Chardonnay lovers alike.
Hand-picked grapes from granite-rich, ocean-cooled vineyards were whole-bunch pressed and fermented naturally in 30% new French oak. Aged for 10 months on the lees with partial malolactic fermentation, this Chardonnay was bottled unfiltered to preserve purity, texture, and terroir expression.

De Morgenzon, ‘the morning sun,’ was so named as it is the first part of the Stellenboschkloof valley to see the sun because of its high altitude and aspects. Their slopes rise from about 200m to nearly 400m above sea level and their vistas embrace Cape Town, Table Mountain, Cape Point, Cape Hangklip, the Hottentots Holland mountains, Helderberg and Simonsberg with the ocean as a backdrop. The reputation of Wendy and Hylton Applebaum’s estate continues its ascent - one regularly marked by genuinely prestigious international and local awards.
