The Rustenberg Peter Barlow Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is the estate’s flagship Cabernet, sourced from its oldest vineyard block and crafted as a tribute to Peter Barlow, whose vision helped shape Rustenberg into one of Stellenbosch’s most respected producers.
This is a classic, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon, showing concentrated aromas of cassis, black cherry, and dark plum, layered with subtle herbaceous notes and hints of spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with dense dark fruit supported by firm, finely integrated tannins. The texture is polished yet substantial, leading to a long, persistent finish that reflects both precision and aging potential.
A serious, cellar-worthy Cabernet, this wine benefits from decanting in its youth and will continue to evolve beautifully over time.
Perfectly suited to grilled steak, lamb, venison, and richly flavored dishes.

The grapes were sourced from the estate’s oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, selected for its ability to produce fruit of exceptional concentration and structure. After harvest, the fruit was fermented in temperature-controlled tanks, with careful extraction to build depth and tannin structure while preserving varietal purity.
Following fermentation, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was then matured in French oak barrels, allowing for integration of tannins and development of complexity. Extended aging ensures a wine of power, balance, and longevity, true to the legacy of the Peter Barlow block.
