The Sijnn Red Blend 2015 is a distinctive and site-driven wine from the remote Malgas region in the Overberg, where rugged, stony soils and constant maritime influence shape wines of remarkable character. Built around Syrah as the core variety, this blend reflects the unique terroir with both power and freshness.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, true red color, opening with an aromatic profile of dark wild berries, layered with notes of salty slate, liquorice, and fennel, a hallmark of the Malgas site. On the palate, the wine is dense yet vibrant, with juicy dark fruit enveloping a concentrated, structured core. A complex mid-palate reveals hints of spiced fruitcake, leading to a long, dry, silky finish that balances richness with elegance.
This is a compelling and age-worthy red, already drinking beautifully but with the structure to evolve further.
Drink now or cellar through 2027+.

The wine is crafted from a selection of warm-climate varietals, with Syrah forming the backbone, grown on complex, stony soils under dry conditions moderated by constant ocean breezes. All vineyards are dry-farmed bush vines, aged around 10–11 years, and cultivated using sustainable practices with no pesticides.
The grapes were harvested and vinified with minimal intervention, allowing the character of the site to shine through. Careful fermentation and maturation ensured a balance between fruit intensity, structure, and the distinctive mineral profile of the Malgas terroir.

A beautiful pioneering wine estate in the middle of nowhere at the end of a long, dusty, bumpy road at the Southern tip of Africa.
When David and Rita Trafford visited the Malgas region for the first time in 2000, they were blown away with the incredible soils specifically in the Lemoentuin area and immediately set about finding a suitable property to purchase.
Today, Sijnn Wines are grown in Malgas along the Breede River - the only first growth appellation in the region.
