Syrah is dedicated to the visionary who first founded the Estate, Des Weedon, his wife Denise, the matriarch, and their grandson Derrick, who gave the Estate its Latin name. Utterly evocative layers of vibrant red and black cherries laced with crushed white pepper and wild fynbos revealing notes of perfume as the wine opens.

Well-rounded and beautifully concentrated with a discretely creamy texture and tight chalky structure. The finish is smooth and lifted with creamy notes. An absolute must-try.

A delayed, but good winter rainfall allowed for adequate replenishing of reserves. A cool and wet spring allowed soil profiles to become well saturated. Winter was not as cold as the previous year but there was sufficient building up of reserves. A cool budding period was experienced with delayed bud break. Veraison occurred later and ripening was prolonged due to low day temperatures which allowed for exceptional color and flavor in the berries. A vintage showing high quality wines with good ageing potential.

Uva Mira translates as 'The Wonderful Grape'. Uva is the Latin word for grape, Mira means wonderful, miraculous and full of charm. Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards is located within the area widely recognized as the “Golden Triangle,” renowned for its noble grape varieties and production of wines of outstanding quality. Our Estate is 127 hectares in size - 33 hectares of which are under vine. Six varietals are grown, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our vineyards are positioned between 260 and 620 meters above sea level and only nine kilometers from False Bay. This creates the climate for wines that are by definition elegant in style. Our fine wines are handcrafted using only grapes from the vineyard sites on our property, to truly express the unique traits of our remarkable site. Wines of elegance, minerality and longevity.
