The Waterford Estate Rose Mary Rosé 2023 is a refined and distinctive Stellenbosch rosé, crafted in a fresh, aromatic style that highlights both elegance and precision. Named after owner Jeremy Ord’s mother, Mary, this wine reflects Waterford’s signature approach - thoughtful, expressive, and beautifully balanced.
The nose is lifted and inviting, with aromas of fresh strawberry, cherry, and apricot, layered with delicate notes of citrus blossom and white florals, alongside a subtle herbal edge. On the palate, the wine is crisp and vibrant, with flavors of naartjie, nectarine, and red berries carried by bright natural acidity. The texture is light and refreshing, yet the finish is long and clean, showing finesse and restraint.
Perfect for warm-weather enjoyment, this rosé pairs effortlessly with summer salads, seafood, charcuterie, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, or enjoyed on its own as an elegant aperitif.

A dryer winter compared to 2022 with +-100mm less rain. Temperatures did warm up quickly after winter giving a strong start to the season. Early season was warm and dry while mid-season to the end of ripening was substantially cooler with a few showers.
Midseason showers gave relief and prepared the vineyards for the peak of summer. The overall coolness extended the hang time of the bunches allowing for gradual ripening to take place. Besides adding texture and lovely cultivar expression to the wines, the coolness also kept the alcohols low and the acidities vibrant
