Refined and age-worthy, the 2010 Waterford Estate The Jem is a masterfully crafted Stellenbosch red blend that showcases both vintage and terroir. Subtle aromas of pencil shavings, spice, and cassis lead into a classically dry palate, where pure fruit meets firm yet elegant tannins and balanced acidity. The wine’s structure and restraint highlight its long aging potential, while its opulent fruit core reflects the hallmark of the 2010 vintage. A true collector’s gem with 10–15 years of evolution ahead.
Each varietal in The Jem is vinified separately to capture its unique character. Six months post-fermentation, the components are blended early to allow maximum integration and then aged together for 20 months in barrel with two careful rackings. Sourced from 11 red varietals grown across diverse soils on our 120-hectare estate, this blend reflects the harmony of our Helderberg terroir and the influence of classic French, Italian, and Spanish cultivars—all in one elegant expression.

Waterford Estate was established in 1998 with the intention of producing the very best wines in the country. Being based on the Helderberg Mountain, in Stellenbosch, the Estate excels in producing Red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the main two blending components in their Flagship The Jem. They chose to use only half of the total 120 hectares of their land for the planting of vines in order to preserve and protect the natural fauna and flora. The Waterford Way is a philosophy that celebrates prosperity, life, food, wine, family and friends, and guides all that they do at Waterford Estate.
