Lush yet refined, this barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc opens with aromas of ripe apricot, peach, and delicate white blossoms. The palate is richly layered with golden apple, honeyed citrus, and pear, wrapped in a creamy texture and lifted by fresh, zesty acidity. Notes of toasted almond, vanilla, and subtle flint from integrated oak aging add elegance and depth. A polished Stellenbosch white wine with structure, complexity, and a long, graceful finish.
Hand-harvested from low-yielding 1972 vines, our Chenin was whole-bunch pressed and wild-fermented in French oak (15% new). Aged 10 months on the lees with no bâtonnage, it showcases layered complexity, natural acidity, and the unique character of our decomposed granite soils cooled by False Bay breezes.

De Morgenzon, ‘the morning sun,’ was so named as it is the first part of the Stellenboschkloof valley to see the sun because of its high altitude and aspects. Their slopes rise from about 200m to nearly 400m above sea level and their vistas embrace Cape Town, Table Mountain, Cape Point, Cape Hangklip, the Hottentots Holland mountains, Helderberg and Simonsberg with the ocean as a backdrop. The reputation of Wendy and Hylton Applebaum’s estate continues its ascent - one regularly marked by genuinely prestigious international and local awards.
