Darkly alluring and impeccably structured, this classic Constantia red blend delivers richness and elegance in equal measure. Aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, and blackberry unfold with hints of dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, and subtle oak spice. The palate is plush yet poised—layered with concentrated black fruit and supported by fresh acidity and firm, well-integrated tannins. A flagship wine of heritage and distinction, crafted for cellaring or immediate indulgence.
Hand-harvested at peak ripeness, our grapes were gently vinified in stainless steel with extended skin contact for depth and structure. Malolactic fermentation added silkiness before 15 months in fine French oak—75% new—to build complexity and age-worthiness. Each vineyard block, rooted in granite-based soils, brings its own nuance to this blend shaped by Constantia’s cool, coastal climate.

Groot Constantia’s revered history tells us how a man’s love of wine established the first wine farm in South Africa. By going back 300 years, we come to understand how 891 morgen of land created the origins of the South African wine industry, and how every owner thereafter contributed to what we know as Groot Constantia today.
