Refined and powerful, the 2018 Waterford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the purity and depth of Stellenbosch’s Helderberg terroir. Dark berry fruit is layered with subtle earth, graphite, and pencil shavings, creating a wine of both elegance and intensity. A dry, finely structured tannin profile supports a smooth, lingering finish. Crafted during one of the Cape’s driest seasons, this vintage offers remarkable concentration and ageability—a true benchmark for South African Cabernet.
The 2018 vintage gave us smaller-than-usual berries with outstanding concentration, thanks to a dry winter and ideal ripening conditions without heatwaves. Our Cabernet Sauvignon thrives in Waterford’s sandstone-rich soils with loam and moisture-holding clay—perfect for developing structure and depth. With healthy vines and perfect bunches, this vintage reflects the true potential of our terroir. It’s a wine crafted by nature’s restraint and nurtured by precision in the vineyard.

Waterford Estate was established in 1998 with the intention of producing the very best wines in the country. Being based on the Helderberg Mountain, in Stellenbosch, the Estate excels in producing Red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the main two blending components in their Flagship The Jem. They chose to use only half of the total 120 hectares of their land for the planting of vines in order to preserve and protect the natural fauna and flora. The Waterford Way is a philosophy that celebrates prosperity, life, food, wine, family and friends, and guides all that they do at Waterford Estate.
