Description

Cape Of Good Hope Sneeukrans Pinot Noir 2022 is a cool-climate Elandskloof red shaped by altitude, slow ripening, and the kind of restraint that suits Pinot Noir best. This is not a broad or overly ripe style. Instead, it leans into lift, red fruit detail, earthy nuance, and fine structure, capturing the quieter, more precise side of the variety. For drinkers who value Pinot Noir with freshness, aromatic range, and a clear sense of site, this is a compelling bottle.

The nose opens with wild raspberry, cherry, and forest floor, while the palate adds juicy red berry fruit, delicate spice, and subtle earthy, leafy notes that give the wine extra dimension without overwhelming its fruit core. The tannins are supple, the acidity is vibrant, and together they carry the wine through a focused, lingering finish. It would pair especially well with duck, roast chicken, mushroom dishes, or grilled salmon, where its freshness and savory detail can work naturally at the table.
The fruit was grown in the cool, high-altitude Elandskloof valley, where a long, slow ripening season helps build natural acidity and layered flavor. The grapes were hand-picked and vinified in separate lots according to ripeness and clone, then gently fermented in small open-top tanks to preserve purity and finesse. The wine was aged for 10 months in seasoned French oak before bottling, allowing texture and structure to develop without masking the vineyard character.

Anthonij Rupert Wyne was founded on the farm L’Ormarins in Franschhoek. Originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001, the farm was taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-the-art winemaking facility on the estate, and the beginnings of what was to become a sprawling enterprise with a focus on terroir specific wines.
