Description

The Fairview Grenache Noir 2023 is a bright, expressive red that leans into the lighter, more drinkable side of Grenache. Crafted in Paarl, this wine highlights freshness, purity of fruit, and effortless versatility.

In the glass, it shows a transparent, vibrant red hue, opening with lifted aromas of juicy red berries and raspberry, alongside subtle notes of floral perfume and indigenous fynbos spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and fruit-driven, with lively acidity and a gentle tannin structure that keeps everything in balance. The finish is fresh, clean, and easygoing, making this a highly approachable wine that still carries character and detail.

Best enjoyed slightly chilled or at cool room temperature, this is a perfect match for charcuterie, grilled vegetables, light meats, and casual dining.
The grapes were picked early morning. Some whole bunches were included in the bottom of the tank - giving elevated fruit and fine tannin. Light punch downs and pump overs were done before pressing. The wine went through malolactic fermentation in older (3rd, 4th and 5th fill) French oak barrels for 9 months before a barrel selection was made for bottling

Winemaker: Anthony de Jager
Fairview is a working farm, housing a collection of micro-businesses all sharing in a common goal – to craft artisanal and sustainable produce, with a focus on fine wine and cheese. Everything they do is driven by their philosophy of being honest, honoring their heritage and ensuring their ingenuity. Eager to explore a wider range of wines using grapes grown in optimal conditions, Charles Back abandoned the estate wine concept in the 1980s, choosing rather to “go where the terroir is”. Today, they are one of the few farms that proudly own all their own vineyards, with land in Paarl, Darling, Swartland and Stellenbosch.
