La Motte La Famille Sauvignon Blanc 2026 is a Western Cape white built around freshness, aromatic lift, and a polished, medium-bodied palate. Sourced from a spread of cooler and warmer growing areas, it captures Sauvignon Blanc’s bright, fruit-driven appeal while showing a little more breadth and texture than a sharply cut, one-dimensional style. This is a wine that feels precise and highly drinkable, with enough detail to keep it interesting from first pour to finish.
The nose opens with tropical granadilla, lime zest, and subtle herbal notes, giving the wine an inviting but controlled aromatic profile. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, with zippy natural acidity bringing energy to the fruit while a refined mineral finish adds shape and persistence. The texture is elegant rather than lean, making it especially well suited to seafood, creamy pasta dishes, bold seasonings, spicy Asian cuisine, or goat cheese, while also working beautifully on its own as an aperitif.
Already highly expressive, this is a Sauvignon Blanc made for enjoyment in its youth, though its balance and fine acidity suggest it should hold well over the near term.
The fruit was sourced from vineyards in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, and the Cape South Coast, combining regional freshness with layered fruit expression. Grapes were harvested between 18° and 23° Balling to retain bright acidity while achieving ripe flavor development.
Fermentation took place under cold, reductive conditions to preserve aromatic purity and varietal freshness, after which the wine rested on its fine lees to build texture and subtle complexity. A small portion of Semillon was included to bring extra balance and depth to the final blend.
