Description

La Petite Ferme Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 from Franschhoek is a bold and elegant South African red wine with depth, structure, and classic varietal character. Showing a beautiful garnet color in the glass, this Cabernet Sauvignon opens with fragrant notes of violets and cassis, leading into dense layers of ripe blackberry and plush dark fruit on the palate. Firm, ripe tannins give the wine structure in its youth, while the balanced fruit profile keeps it approachable and enjoyable now.

Rich yet polished, this Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon offers both immediate appeal and the potential to develop further with cellaring, making it a versatile choice for red wine lovers who appreciate power, refinement, and aging potential.
Wine of origin Franschhoek. All grapes from La Petite Ferme Vineyards. Picked between 24.0-25.0 balling. Fermentation in open fermenters for 10 days and cap punched down manually every 6-8 hours. The wine is matured in 225L French oak barrels for 13 months with 10% new oak.

Winemaker : Wikus Pretorius
Situated on the side of the majestic Middagkrans Mountains of the magnificent Franschhoek Valley, the west-facing La Petite Ferme is one of the more intimate wineries in the Cape Winelands. More than 300 years ago, when the Huguenots arrived, they brought with them their age-old French wine and food culture (Many of them were given land by the Dutch government in a valley called Oliphantshoek - Elephant Corner - so named because of the vast herds of elephants that roamed the area).

Soon after they settled here, it became known as Franschhoek (French Corner). Most of the wineries in Franschhoek still have their original French names and the homesteads are all Cape Dutch with gorgeous Oaks and luscious vineyards. These amazing vineyards that cover these mountain slopes boast a valley rich in history and are centered on a picturesque village of warm and friendly people.
