Description
Lanzerac Merlot 2024 is a full-bodied Stellenbosch red built around ripe fruit, supple tannins, and polished oak. The style is generous and smooth, with enough freshness and structure to keep the wine balanced despite its richer profile.
The nose opens with red berries, cocoa, mint, and a subtle dark chocolate note. On the palate, the wine is plush and rounded, with soft tannins carrying the fruit through a long, lingering finish. The oak is integrated rather than dominant, adding shape and depth without obscuring the Merlot character. It would pair especially well with veal chops, gnocchi in red pepper sauce, roast meats, or a creamy Gruyère and Parmesan risotto.
This is an approachable Merlot with enough structure to develop further over the next several years.

The fruit was sourced from four Stellenbosch vineyard blocks and hand-harvested before undergoing two stages of sorting. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, with both free-run juice and barrel-fermented components used in the final wine.
The wine matured for 12 months in French oak, helping build texture, soften the tannins, and integrate the ripe fruit with subtle oak influence.
