Description
The nose is intensely aromatic, with classic Swartland notes of blackberry, violet, and black olive tapenade, layered with hints of citrus rind and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is rich yet energetic, showing velvety tannins and a beautifully textured mid-palate. Dark fruit, savory complexity, and mineral freshness unfold in layers, while the quartz-derived parcels bring lift and vibrancy to the finish. The result is a Syrah of remarkable balance and age-worthiness.
This wine pairs beautifully with slow-roasted lamb, grilled ribeye, game meats, and earthy mushroom dishes.
Fermentation occurred with indigenous yeasts, with gentle cap management encouraging slow, natural extraction over approximately four weeks. Once the tannin structure reached the desired balance, the wine was pressed to 500L French oak barrels.
The Syrah matured for 11 months in barrel, followed by blending and a further 10 months of aging before bottling. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving texture, site character, and purity.
