Description

Muratie's 2024 Isabella Chardonnay is a graceful expression of Stellenbosch elegance - fresh, floral, and beautifully balanced. Named after the winemaker’s daughter, this wine charms from the first swirl with aromas of peach blossom, melon, and citrus.

A gentle 10 months in oak adds soft hints of vanilla cream and roasted hazelnuts, enriching the palate without overwhelming its purity. The texture is silky and refined, with a bright mineral edge and a lingering, slightly piquant finish. A wine that whispers its story with every sip - delicate, but full of depth and soul. Ideal for lovers of cool-climate Chardonnay with elegance and restraint.

Ratings/Accolades:
(2023) Tim Atkin: 92 Points
Crafted with precision and care, this Chardonnay began with hand-harvested grapes, whole-bunch pressed for elegance and finesse. The juice was cold settled before fermentation in 500L French oak barrels - 40% fermented naturally for added complexity.

Around 60% underwent malolactic fermentation, rounding out the acidity. After 10 months on the lees, the wine was racked, blended, and bottled - delivering a refined balance of freshness, texture, and subtle oak.

Tucked into the exquisite Knorhoek Valley north of Stellenbosch, Muratie Wine Estate, under the stewardship of Rijk Melck and his family, has been at the heart of a lot of passionate debate. This debate is centered largely around the desire to protect a century’s old wine experience that is a magnet for wine lovers around the world.
