In exceptional vintages, select barrels of Steenberg Merlot reveal remarkable fruit intensity, structure, and balance. This full-bodied wine showcases concentrated blackberries, currants, and plums with crème de cassis-like richness. Seamlessly integrated oak adds a subtle exotic spice perfume, enhancing depth and complexity. Designed to reward patience, it can be cellared for at least five years for a truly indulgent tasting experience.
Grapes were handpicked at 6 tons/ha, destemmed, and hand-sorted before fermentation in stainless steel and open tanks with regular pump-overs and punch-downs. The wine matured 22 months in 100% new French oak, developing balanced fruit, refined tannins, and fresh acidity that reflect the elegance and terroir of Simonsberg.
