Description

This sustainable and elegant rosé sparkling wine boasts a beautiful blush hue, thanks to the Pinotage component. Rich in flavor, it offers a delightful yeasty complexity from extended time spent sur lie (on the lees), resulting in a smooth, layered profile.

With a vibrant mousse and a long, satisfying finish, this blended bubbly is perfect for celebrating special moments or enjoying with seafood, charcuterie, or light appetizers.
The aim is to reflect the specific character of the "terroir", as well as the unique characteristics of each vintage in our wines. We also commit ourselves to ongoing quality improvement in the vineyard and constant upgrading of cellar facilities. No insecticides have been sprayed since 2000 and a flock of 1000 Peking ducks are responsible for natural pest control.

For our Tradition slightly unripe healthy grapes are pressed very gently using a Champagne pressing program. Only the cuvee (best quality juice) is used in the blend. After blending, yeast and sugar are added for a secondary fermentation in the bottle which takes 6 weeks, producing CO2. The sparkling wine is matured in contact with the lees for 18 months. Tradition Rose can age for at least 3 years from date of purchase. With age the wine softens in flavor, maintaining its sparkle, giving a fulfilling balance of age and fruit.

Winemaker: Jeff Grier
Cousins Jeff and Simon Grier started the family owned Villiera Wines outside of Stellenbosch in 1983. This particular grape-growing region has a prevailing Mediterranean climate which is favored for the growing of vines. All the fruit is grown on Villiera making the wines distinctive and unique.

The introduction of the high-tech cellar facilities for the production of still wines as well as Methode Cap Classique sparkling wines, combined with a unique philosophy has seen Villiera developing into one of the country’s leading private wineries.

The winery maintains an environmentally friendly vineyard with 200 ha designated to grapes and the other 200 ha made up of buildings, fallow land, gardens and dams. There is a strong focus on water conservation and recycling and 12000 indigenous trees are currently being planted on the farm as part of a green project. The Wild life in the sanctuary is abundant and Villiera Winery has been accredited as a BWI member. In 2006 Villiera became a part of the WIETA (Biodiversity Wine Initiative).

Their mission is to improve working conditions within the Agricultural Industry by adhering to ethical employment practices. The WIETA code of conduct prohibits the use of child labor, excessive working hours and unfair discrimination, while ensuring a healthy and safe working environment and the right to a living wage.
