Reflecting its Helderberg origins, the 2019 Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Shiraz (1.5L) is a bold yet elegant expression of Stellenbosch terroir. Aromas of leather, fynbos, and smoked meat intertwine with spice-laden notes of cinnamon, clove, and cumin from the Mourvèdre component. The palate is lifted by vibrant acidity and layered with violets, red fruit, and refined tannins. Polished and structured, this large-format Shiraz delivers depth, texture, and long cellaring potential.
The 2019 vintage brought cooler weather and welcome rainfall, allowing for extended ripening and beautifully balanced fruit. All grapes for this Shiraz were estate-grown, hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented as whole berries for 14 days. After gentle pressing, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and aging in seasoned French oak. Blended after six months, it was racked twice more to refine texture and integration, showcasing a softer, fruit-forward style with depth and elegance.

Waterford Estate was established in 1998 with the intention of producing the very best wines in the country. Being based on the Helderberg Mountain, in Stellenbosch, the Estate excels in producing Red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the main two blending components in their Flagship The Jem. They chose to use only half of the total 120 hectares of their land for the planting of vines in order to preserve and protect the natural fauna and flora. The Waterford Way is a philosophy that celebrates prosperity, life, food, wine, family and friends, and guides all that they do at Waterford Estate.
