Description

Year in, year out, this exceptional Chenin Blanc vineyard delivers the goods....it produces a wine with won- derful energy, poise and focus. Lime, pear and green apple flavors are complemented by understated oak and a tangy, mouth-watering finish.
From Beaumont’s two oldest Chenin Blanc vineyards, planted in ‘74 and ‘87 on a combination of gravel, sand and shale. These vineyards are registered as single vineyards and the wine is certified as a Heritage Vineyard wine. A normal wet cold winter allowed for good rest of the vines. Healthy ripen- ing season produced perfect grapes. Barrel fermentation takes place with minimum intervention in 400L French oak using only natural yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation occurs. The wine is kept on its gross lees for 10 months with regular batonage, giving it a richer and fuller palate.

Winemaker : Sebastian Beaumont
Beaumont is a family owned and managed farm situated in the heart of the town of Bot River in the Overberg. The farm, home to the region’s oldest wine cellar, was originally established in the 1700’s by the Dutch East India Company. In the 1940’s the wine business was initially started but wine production was discontinued in the late 1960’s. Jayne and Raoul Beaumont bought the farm Compagnes Drift in 1974 and set about replanting the vineyards.
