Description
The nose suggests petrichor after spring rain, followed by a more open sweep of herbs, orange, apricot, and peach. On the palate, those flavors carry through with fine detail, supported by a mineral line and the crispness that marks the Cape South Coast at its best. The wine feels lively and precise rather than broad, with enough texture to give it shape and enough acidity to keep it vibrant through the finish. It is especially well suited to grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy vegetable dishes, or herb-led Mediterranean cooking where its freshness and subtle richness can work together at the table.
Already highly expressive, this is a food-friendly white that should drink beautifully in its youth while holding its shape over the near term.
Winemaker: Carolyn Martin
The 40 hectares of undulating land on the lofty Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge had never been planted to vines before, but recognizing the vast potential, they set out with tenacity and determination to transform it into a model wine farm.
No easy feat, but then the Swiss-born JC and South African-born Carolyn (née Finlayson) both come from wine pioneering stock spanning at least three generations and two continents!
