Description

Fairview Chenin Blanc 2026 is a bright, fruit-forward Coastal Region white with enough texture to give the wine substance without losing its crisp, easygoing character. A small barrel-fermented portion adds gentle creaminess, while stainless steel fermentation preserves the fresh tropical and citrus profile at the center of the wine.

The nose is generous with pineapple, guava, and stone fruit, supported by subtle lemon and lime notes. The palate is medium-bodied, with ripe yellow fruit bringing a sense of sweetness before a light creamy texture leads into a dry, crisp finish. It would pair naturally with grilled chicken, seafood, fresh salads, lightly spiced dishes, or creamy pasta served with a citrus-led sauce.

This is a Chenin Blanc made for youthful drinking, with its tropical fruit and freshness best enjoyed over the next year or two.
The grapes were harvested early in the morning and delivered cold to the cellar before being destemmed and gently pressed. The free-run juice settled for two days, after which the clear juice was racked and fermented cold, primarily in stainless steel tanks.

Twenty percent of the wine fermented in older French oak barrels to add subtle texture and creaminess. After fermentation, the wine remained on its fine lees for three months. Fruit from several picking dates was then blended before stabilization, filtration, and bottling.

Winemaker: Anthony de Jager
Fairview is a working farm, housing a collection of micro-businesses all sharing in a common goal – to craft artisanal and sustainable produce, with a focus on fine wine and cheese. Everything they do is driven by their philosophy of being honest, honoring their heritage and ensuring their ingenuity. Eager to explore a wider range of wines using grapes grown in optimal conditions, Charles Back abandoned the estate wine concept in the 1980s, choosing rather to “go where the terroir is”. Today, they are one of the few farms that proudly own all their own vineyards, with land in Paarl, Darling, Swartland and Stellenbosch.
