A bold, elegant Bordeaux-style blend from South Africa’s Klein River region, RAKA’s Five Maidens 2018 offers a harmonious nose of dark fruitcake, cedar, and cigar box spice. Full-bodied with beautifully integrated oak, it delivers rich layers of black plum, cassis, and warm spice.
Aged 30 months in new French oak, it shows remarkable structure and depth - a wine built for aging, yet already compelling in the glass. We love it for the care and craftsmanship behind it - a tribute to RAKA’s roots as a family-owned winery producing character-driven wines with heart and heritage.

All grapes were hand-picked and sorted before a pure yeast culture was inoculated. The juice was pumped over the skins 3-5 times per day for 5 days.
Once fermentation was complete, the wine was drained of the primary lees and transferred to a resting tank. Malolactic fermentation and a brief settling period preceded the wine to a combination of 225 litre barrels of new French oak for 30 months.
