Muratie Laurens Campher 2025 is a Stellenbosch white blend that balances brightness and barrel-aged texture with unusual ease. Built around old bush-vine Chenin Blanc and supported by Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, and Viognier, it offers a broader, more layered style than a simple fruit-led white, while still holding onto freshness and line. This is a wine with both immediate charm and the sort of cellar detail that rewards more attentive drinking.
The nose opens with lemon zest, pineapple, apricot, and ripe nectarine, followed by deeper notes of lime marmalade, a touch of caramel, and subtle creaminess from time in oak. On the palate, honeysuckle appears first, then gives way to sunlit stone fruit and citrus brightness, all carried by fresh acidity that keeps the wine lively and poised. The texture is generous without becoming heavy, and the finish is long and persistent. It would pair especially well with roast chicken, creamy seafood, richer vegetable dishes, or mild curries, where its fruit, texture, and freshness can work naturally with the food.
Already highly expressive, this is a white blend that should offer plenty now while continuing to develop added complexity over the next several years.
The wine was crafted from handpicked grapes grown on distinct vineyard slopes, with old bush-vine Chenin Blanc forming the core of the blend for added texture and purity. Each varietal was vinified separately and matured for 11 months in a combination of new and seasoned 500L French oak barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation softened the acidity and added breadth, while the use of mostly older oak helped preserve fruit definition and site character.
