Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards D.W. Syrah 2024 is a Helderberg red shaped by altitude, cool ripening conditions, and a style centered on finesse rather than sheer weight. Named in tribute to the family figures behind the estate, it is a composed, aromatic Syrah with the concentration to feel serious while retaining lift and precision.
The nose opens with red and black cherry, violet, crushed white pepper, and wild fynbos, with perfumed notes becoming more apparent as the wine opens. On the palate, bright red berry fruit is supported by a rounded, creamy texture and a firm chalky structure. The wine is concentrated without feeling heavy, and the finish stays smooth, lifted, and finely detailed. It would pair especially well with lamb, venison, roast duck, or grilled mushrooms.
This is a structured Syrah with both immediate appeal and the balance to develop further in bottle over the next several years.

The 2024 growing season was marked by delayed but beneficial winter rainfall, followed by a cool, wet spring that replenished soil moisture and supported gradual vine development. Bud break and veraison were later than usual, while prolonged ripening under lower daytime temperatures allowed color and flavor to develop slowly in the berries. The vintage is described as one of high quality with strong aging potential. No fermentation, maturation, or oak details were provided.

Uva Mira translates as 'The Wonderful Grape'. Uva is the Latin word for grape, Mira means wonderful, miraculous and full of charm. Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards is located within the area widely recognized as the “Golden Triangle,” renowned for its noble grape varieties and production of wines of outstanding quality. Our Estate is 127 hectares in size - 33 hectares of which are under vine. Six varietals are grown, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our vineyards are positioned between 260 and 620 meters above sea level and only nine kilometers from False Bay. This creates the climate for wines that are by definition elegant in style. Our fine wines are handcrafted using only grapes from the vineyard sites on our property, to truly express the unique traits of our remarkable site. Wines of elegance, minerality and longevity.
